  39. Yorky off-Broadway musical by newcomer William Finn doffs its
  40. top hat to Stephen Sondheim.

  43. Co., this is a theatrical experience to be savored for a
  44. lifetime.

  46. <p>Piaf. The Sparrow's song--brief in ecstasy, extreme in
  47. pain--was the predawn Paris blues. Tribute in kind was paid
  48. Piaf in the searing Tony Award-winning performance of Jane
  49. Lapotaire.

  51. <p>Sister Mary Ignatius Explains It All for You. Christopher
  52. Durang's damnably funny satire on Roman Catholic education,
  53. faith and dogma. Elizabeth Franz is a holy terror as a
  54. schoolteacher-nun.

  56. <p>Sophisticated Ladies. Gregory Hines is a dancing, singing,
  57. drum-flaying supernova in this stylish tribute to the dandy of
  58. the jazz kingdom, Duke Ellington.
